Assuming you aren’t living under a rock, you’ve probably heard about the recent photos coming back to us from Mars courtesy of NASA’s rover, Curiosity. As it turns out, the Red Planet isn’t so red after all. It looks more like a brown desert. While part of me is amazed at the technology that has made these discoveries possible, I mostly find myself absolutely in awe of what we have here on Earth. There truly is beauty in all that surrounds us. Even in the starfish.
It’s back to school tomorrow for Hawaii public school students! It’s safe to assume that the kids are probably not quite as excited about it as the parents are. But, as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Hopefully, everyone has had an enjoyable summer with plenty of new memories to cherish!

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year…..” 3.5 weeks for Montana kids! It’s a great time for folks to think about having portraits made of the little ones who aren’t in school yet, though! (That’s when I am starting a whole new line of portrait specials…) It’s funny the memories different foods bring me. I bought these strawberries today and remembered that when my brothers and I were little, my mother used to take us to go pick strawberries at Butler’s Orchard out in Germantown, Maryland. We’d sneak in a few bites every so often;) and it was a miracle there were any left at the end of the excursion. The strawberries we didn’t consume ended up being made into preserves for our pb & j sandwiches and whatever else tickled our fancy.
On a recent trip to our Nation’s Capital, I had the pleasure of photographing a stunning residence in historic Capitol Hill. I honestly think I could have spent easily a week photographing it. Here are a few of my favorites:

Gabi, these are wonderful!! It’s tough to get the lighting and angles just right, but you nailed it. Home and Garden magazine…take notice!
